How to get to Green Island: By ferry
The ferry is by far the cheapest and easiest way of getting to Green Island.
The main ferry services to Green Island depart from FuGang Harbour outside Taitung City. There are several ferry companies offering the route, resulting in multiple departures each day (except during winter which sees limited services due to extreme sea conditions).
The journey takes approximately 50-60 minutes. However, it is not uncommon to encounter rough sea conditions. Thus, it is strongly advisable to bring along sea-sick pills. During your trip, check the prevailing sea conditions with the ferry service while collecting your tickets (at FuGang Harbour) on the day of your crossing. If the ferry service staff advise you to take sea-sick pills, ignore at your peril.
To book/purchase the ferry tickets, it might be easier to do so through your Green Island accommodation host. We booked ours via our host and the return trip (two-way) cost was NTD900.
How to get to Green Island: By plane
There is a flight service between Taitung Airport and Green Island, operated by a single airline. Flight duration is 15 minutes. However, due to the limited frequency of the flight and the use of a small plane (19-seater), it is difficult to purchase the tickets. With flights getting booked out months in advance.
