Where to stay in Langkawi
Pantai Cenang is the most popular beach town on Langkawi. It is located a mere 10 minutes’ drive from the airport.
Pantai Cenang is famed for its long and clean beach that is well suited for swimming. There are also plenty of water-related activities available here (e.g. parasailing, jet skiing).
In addition to the beach, Pantai Cenang has a good density of restaurants, cafes, retail outlets, accommodations, spas and other tourist-related businesses. Making it extremely convenient for visitors to stay in the area. It is for these same reasons that we choose to stay in Pantai Cenang during our 5-days trip to Langkawi in Jun-2019.

Sri Embun Resort (Pantai Cenang) Review
There are numerous accommodation options in Pantai Cenang. For our trip, we were looking for something cheap and clean. Our limited budget means that we would be forgoing amenities/services such as pool, direct beach access and bundled breakfast. After much searching, we came upon Sri Embun Resort on Booking.com*.
Location and facilities
Sri Embun Resort* is a no-frills motel-like accommodation located at a quiet spot on the fringe of Pantai Cenang. Though it is situated slightly inland (behind the main street of Pantai Cenang), it is only a 5-minutes’ walk from the beach. Making it extremely convenient to access the amenities on the main street.
Being a no-frills accommodation, there are no pools. There aren’t many facilities expect for a terrace and water dispenser (which appears to breakdown frequently). There are however free Wi-Fi (reasonable speed) and plenty of onsite parking.
Rooms and rates
Sri Embun Resort* is a single-level building (i.e. all rooms are on the ground floor). And each room has a small private balcony. Though they do not offer any spectacular view.
The resort is new and only started operation in March-2019. Thus ensuring that the rooms (and general areas) are in good condition. The rooms are spacious and equipped with air-conditioning plus ceiling fans. We did find the air-conditioning slightly under-powered during warm afternoons. However, once the ceiling fans were turned on, the temperature in the room drop to acceptable levels.
Most importantly, the rates are extremely competitive. Our family consist of two adults and one child. And we were quoted RM100 per night (for a Deluxe Family Room) for a period of 5 nights. Extremely reasonable rates for accommodation this new and located in Pantai Cenang.
Overall, we truly enjoyed our 5-days stay at Sri Embun Resort*. Clean rooms with good rates. Definitely recommended!
